The Mediterranean exports to the United States have a new channel!

COSCO Ocean Container Transport Co., Ltd. (COSCO Shipping and Transportation) held the inaugural ceremony of the Northwest Europe-Mediterranean route on April 9 in Istanbul, Turkey, marking the first time that Chinese shipping companies provided direct services in the region.

According to reports, the new route will enable COSCO maritime transport to connect its own feeder lines in the North West Europe and the Mediterranean region, including the company's investment in Istanbul Kunport Terminal, Greece's Piraeus Port and the Belgian Port of Antwerp. The new route will fully connect the major ports of North-West Europe with the ports of the Adriatic Sea, the Black Sea and the Eastern Mediterranean, and provide a new path from the Mediterranean to the United States through the port of Salerno, Italy.

At the inaugural ceremony, Tian Dong, vice president of COSCO Shipping (Europe) Co., Ltd., said that the opening of the new route is a "milestone" for COSCO Shipping. He said that in the past two years, the company's European regional trade volume has increased by 70% annually, and currently provides a total of 12 regional service services in the North West Europe and the Mediterranean region.

Huang Songfeng, Commercial Consul of the Chinese Consulate General in Istanbul, pointed out that the opening of the new route will further create better conditions for the development of the national market along the “Belt and Road” and will also help to take advantage of the radiation in Istanbul and Turkey.
