According to the South African independent media website reported on April 11, the South African transport company National Port Authority said that South Africa's bulk cargo exports in March increased by 27.4% year-on-year, reaching 14 million tons. According to the analysis, part of the increase was due to the base effect, as the 861-kilometer railway line from Sishen to Saldanha in the Northern Cape mining area was closed for several days in March 2016 due to maintenance needs, and was exported from the port in March this year. Iron ore-based bulk cargo nearly doubled (575 million tons) compared to the same period last year, an increase of 95.3%.
